City manager to resign
Painesville City Manager Monica Irelan has announced her resignation.
Her decision came from an opportunity to take the role as the city manager in Westerville, a northeastern suburb of Columbus, according to a news release. Her resignation will be effective as of Dec. 11.
“Westerville is a great opportunity for the next step in my career but it was a very difficult decision to leave Painesville,” Irelan said in the release.
Irelan came to Painesville in December 2016, replacing Anthony Carson, who resigned that July. Irelan had served as city manager of Napoleon, Ohio, in the northwestern part of the state.

The news release stated, “A full-time communications position was established to direct day-to-day communications and engagement with the community, which significantly improved relationships with residents, business owners and the workforce.”
