Released through Ohio Dept. of Mental Health and Addiction Services, will help new men’s residential treatment facility.

Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers is receiving a $500,000 grant to help with the construction of a new men’s residential treatment facility in Painesville.

The funds were released through the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, according to a news release from Ohio Rep. John Rogers, DMentor-on-the-Lake.

The 9,700-square-foot facility will be located at 760 Oak St.

The land was donated by the Lake County Land Bank. Rogers serves as the director of the land bank.

“I am pleased that the cooperative effort of Lake-Geauga Recovery Centers and its community partners will come to fruition with the assistance of the State through this grant,” Rogers said in a statement.

“The board of directors at the Lake County Land Bank agreed to donate the centrally-located land for this project with the intention to support LGRC’s vision to set aside a space where individuals seeking help with recovery will be surrounded by resources and services able to contribute to their success.”

The planned facility is expected to provide up to 16 beds of residential treatment for adult men with substance use disorders, according to the news release.

On-site counselors and agency treatment “professionals will develop individualized treatment plans to address residents’ needs for housing, employment, vocational training, education, relationships, child care, mental health and physical health to support their successful re-entry into society.” Services will include: • Physical evaluation and physical health care services

• Individual crisis intervention and intensive group counseling

• Aftercare ser vices, peer recovery support and independent living skills

• Workforce prep and vocational training.

Rogers said the funds will help defray the cost of the new facility’s construction.

“Partnering with the state of Ohio definitely enhances the ability to address an ever increasing need for this type of care here locally,” Rogers said.

The location is in close proximity to downtown Painesville, “making additional services available through partner organizations in the area easily accessible such as public transportation, churches, A A /NA groups, Lake County YMCA Central Branch, employment opportunities and social service agencies,” the news release stated.
