The Lake County Department of Utilities will be repairing a water main at the intersection of Rockefeller and Route 90 in Willoughby Hills.

During this repair, which will take place Jan. 14 and will start at 8 a.m., both Willoughby Hills and Wickliffe residents will experience low water pressure.

Those who reside on Rockefeller Road; East Miller Avenue; West Miller Avenue; Jackson Avenue; Delaware Street; Luxona Avenue; Waldensa Avenue; Armadale Avenue; Meadowbrook Drive; Allen Drive; Diane Street; Beechwood Drive; Larchmont Drive; East 290th St.; Stanford Drive; and Sherbrook Drive will have low water pressure.

Residents are advised to draw and store extra tap water for drinking and cooking needs prior to the work time listed above, according to the Lake County Department of Utilities. Upon restoration of service, water may be discolored. If this occurs, residents are advised to run a cold water faucet until the water clears.

“The water main will not be shut down completely, so service will still be available,” said Willoughby Hills Fire Chief Robert Gandee. “You may not want to take a shower during that time frame. Everyone’s pipes are in different states of repair or conditions, but it really shouldn’t affect too much of what we do. There are always contingency plans if we don’t have water readily available.”

This is a fairly typical repair, said sanitary engineer Randy Rothlisberger.

“We’ve noticed a small leak. We’ve been monitoring for a while and with nicer weather Thursday, we thought that was a great opportunity to get this done,” he said.

“It’s always helpful to have a couple gallons of drinking water in case the pressure does go low, but it should be back to normal by the evening.”
