It was all smiles on the Riverside bench as the Beavers cruised to an 80-44 win over nonconference rival Harvey.

The win puts Riverside at 4-1 as it prepares for Western Reserve Conference play. Harvey falls to 1-4.

One of the biggest keys to this win for Riverside was the players’ unselfishness with the ball as five players finished with double-digit points. When a team is clicking on all cylinders like Riverside was, it shows that everyone is playing together and being aggressive, and Riverside head coach Matt Grendel knows that.

“It was great to see our guys playing together,” said Grendel. “They were attacking, looking for their teammates, Brett (Fulton) had a great game for us inside, and his teammates set him up to score so that shows you that our guys were being aggressive to get the ball down low to him.”

Fulton did have a big night, with 14 of his 19 points coming in the first half. After the game when asked about his big night and the win, Fulton praised his teammates and how they were able to help set him up for his scores.

“My teammates set me up amazingly tonight,” said Fulton. “Every time they would drive into the paint, they would dish it to me when I had a good matchup. We don’t care if we have a bad night ourselves, we care if everyone around us has a big night and we get a team win.”

While Fulton led the way with 19 points, he was one of several for Riverside who had a big night. Andrew Taggart had 14, Jake Segulin contributed 11, Caiden Geiger added 10 and both Charlie Fox and Wyatt Young each scored 9.
