Public library set to reopen building on Jan. 19

- Staff Report

Fairport Harbor Public Library announced it is planning on reopening the building to the public on Jan. 19.

“If Lake County remains at COVID alert level 3 (red) or lower, the library will resume regular open hours to visitors in the building,” the library stated in a news release. “We have missed our patrons very much and cannot wait to have them back in the building.”

There are still procedures and rules in place to maintain a safe and healthy environment for staff and visitors, the library went on to say in the release.

The building will be open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Masks are required to be worn by all visitors the entire time they are in the building.

Visitors are asked to keep their browsing time brief and computers sessions will be limited to 30 minutes per user.

Currently, the notary service is not available, and all library activities and programs will continue to be held virtually via curbside pickup and online platforms. Curbside delivery of materials is available to visitors who prefer contactless services or who are not able to wear a face covering.

For patrons that cannot come to the library, home delivery is available to residents of Fairport Harbor Village, the release stated.

Families will see some new additions to the children’s reading garden and teen area thanks to a donation from the Daly Family Fund.

All children ages 0-9 must be accompanied by an adult in the building at all times. Youth ages 10-13 may visit the library unattended but must bring a signed permission slip at each visit. Permission slips are available on the library’s website and at the door.

Teens ages 14 and up are expected to abide by all adult visitor policies.

The library is located at 335 Vine St.
