The Clark Kellogg Award is presented annually to The News-Herald’s boys basketball player of the year. The winner will be announced after the completion of the state tournament on a date to be announced.

This list can fluctuate throughout the season. Candidates are listed in alphabetical order. Jaylen Anderson, Perry:

The 9-1Pirates have leaned on Anderson’s leadership, and the senior has responded with a 21-point scoring average. Luke Chicone, Mentor: The senior point guard is averaging almost 25points and

nearly undefeated eight Cardinals assists for the Faris Dahman, University:

The Preppers start five seniors, and Dahman leads with a 15.6-point scoring average. Aiden Fitzgerald, Lake Catholic: Fitzgerald is averaging 18.8 points and has made 24 3-pointers. Caden Geiger, Riverside:

Jamarr Talbert, Richmond Heights: Talbert is averaging 13 points, five rebounds and five assists for the Spartans. Jonah Waag, Mentor:

Waag takes pride in his defense, but he’s been an effective scorer for the Cardinals, averaging 14.5 points.

Tyler Williams, Brush: Williams, who recently suffered a hand injury, is averaging a double-double and ranks among the area leaders in rebounding.
