(9) BEAUMONT AT (6) GILMOUR

What: Division II district semifinal

When: 7 p.m., Feb. 24 Where: Gilmour Records: Beaumont 12-8, Gilmour 14-8

On deck: Winner advances to the district final to play the winner of (16) Lutheran East and (1) Laurel at 7 p.m. on Feb. 27

For the record: These teams met twice this year, with the Lancers winning both, 56-46 on Jan. 4 and 63-57 on Jan. 16. But beating a team three times in a season is easier said than done . ... Gilmour beat Tallmadge, 54-27, in a sectional final. The Lancers are balanced, with Lauren Stover (11.5) and Cooper Flowers (8.9) leading the way by dominating the paint . ... Beaumont defeated Bay, 53-41, for a sectional title. Lydia Gattozzi’s 18.1 points and 7.1 rebounds and Ally Ziegler’s 12.5 points and 10.2 boards anchor the Blue Streaks. Kampf’s pick: Gilmour

(7) CANTON SOUTH AT (1) PERRY

What: Division II district semifinal

When: 6 p.m., Feb. 24 Where: Perry

Records: Perry 19-4, Canton South 16-8

On deck: Winner advances to the district final to play the winner of (4) Salem and (6) Kenston at 7p.m. on Feb. 27.

For the record: The Pirates lost their final two regular-season games, but then drilled Lakeview for a sectional title. Perry is deep, experienced and tenacious. Senior Madyson Hacking (17.0 points, 6.7 rebounds) is the leader, but this team does a lot and does it well. Elle Infalvi is among the area leaders in 3-pointers, and the team defense and rebounding mentality is exceptional . ... Leyla Thompson went for 18points and seven rebounds in Canton South’s sectional semi win over Struthers (43-25). Rachel Porter had 14. Kampf’s pick: Perry

(13) HAWKEN AT (3) CVCA

What: Division II district semifinal

When: 7 p.m., Feb. 24 Where: 4687Wyoga Lake Road, Cuyahoga Falls Records: Hawken 14-2, CVCA 20-4

On deck: Winner advances to the district final to play the winner of (5) Canal Fulton Northwest and (12) Firelands at 7 p.m. on Feb. 27

For the record: The Hawks are experiencing their best season in maybe a decade or more. It’s been a number of years since they won a district game. This is a tough task. Hawken is coming off a 43-30 win over Cloverleaf in a sectional final, while CVCA beat Springfield, 55-13. CVCA has won five in a row. Hawken is led by Makayla White (13.3ppg) and Kate Bollinger (8.8ppg). The Hawks have to limit turnovers and be efficient on offense to move to the district final. Kampf’s pick: CVCA

(6) KENSTON AT (4) SALEM

What: Division II district semifinal

When: 7 p.m., Feb. 24

Where: 799 N. Lincoln Ave., Salem

Records: Kenston 14-3, Salem 12-5

On deck: Winner advances to the district final to play the winner of (1) Perry and (7) Canton south at 7p.m. on Feb. 27

For the record: The sixthseeded Bombers got a scare from NDCL, pulling out a 41-38 win for a sectional title. Kenston is a young team, with three seniors, one junior and a slew of sophomores. Junior Catara DeJarnette averages 19.8 points, the rebounds and 4assists per game. Kate Haynes is a strong player in the paint and youngsters like Ramsey Smith add a lot to the table . ... Salem beat Streetsboro, 49-30, for a sectional title. Expect a defense-oriented, lowerscoring game here. The guess is someone besides DeJarnette will have to step up for Kenston to advance. Kampf’s pick: Salem

(4) CUYAHOGA HEIGHTS AT (2) CORNERSTONE

What: Division IV district semifinal

When: 7 p.m., Feb. 24 Where: Cornerstone Records: Cornerstone 1211, Cuyahoga Heights 13-10 On deck: Winner advances to the district final to play the winner of (1) Loudonville and (3) Dalton at 4 p.m. on Feb. 27.

For the record: The Patriots are working toward a goal of returning to the state tournament for a third year in a row. They have what many deem to be an average record at 12-11, but Coach Lisa Stopp’s team played a tough schedule — as usual — this year. Senior Riley Stopp averages 16.8 points, 10rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Aislyn Hurst also averages double figures, while sharpshooter Alex Rosson is one of the better 3-point shooters in the area . ... Cuyahoga Heights traditionally hangs its hat on defense, causing havoc and making few, if any, mistakes. The Redskins will be a tough out. Kampf’s pick: Cornerstone

(11) WEST GEAUGA AT (2) POLAND

What: Division II district semifinal

When: 7 p.m., Feb. 24 Where: 3199 Dobbins Road, Poland

Records: West Geauga 11-4, Poland 20-2

On deck: Winner advances to the district final to play the winner of (3) Marlington and (5) West Branch at 7 p.m. on Feb. 27

For the record: The Wolverines had a late start because of COVID, and injuries have prevented the team from playing a game at full strength through 11games. Still, West G bumped off ninth-seeded Mooney, and is a threat to pull the upset here, too. YSU commit Athena Hocevar averages 13.3points and also leads the team in assists and steals. Her sister Alexa averages 11.4 points and 8.7 rebounds. Keeping them out of foul trouble is a must . ... Poland lost its regular-season finale to South Range, but prior to that had won 19 in a row after a season-opening loss to Salem. Jackie Grisdale, who scored 18 in a sectional final win over Jefferson, is the Bulldogs’ all-time leading scorer. Slowing her down will be key for West G.

Kampf’s pick: Poland
