The Kiwanis Club of Greater Euclid is working on revitalizing the Euclid High School chapter of Key Club, a studentled organization affiliated with the Kiwanis focused on community service and personal growth.

Tiffany Wilson, the school’s work-based learning coordinator, has recently taken on the role of Key Club organizer as she and leaders of the local Kiwanis work together to get the new club up and running.

Wilson, an alumna of Euclid Schools, said she was also a member of the old Key Club, which tapered off over the years. She said she was excited to start the club back up again and share her love for community service with student members.

“The vision is to make sure we’re helping the community,” she said.

Wilson explained that they are in the “softlaunch” phase of the new Key Club and have one official student member so far. They are actively looking for more ninththrough 12th graders at the school who are interested in getting involved.

Wilson said the goal is to begin to hold weekly meetings, which will be spearheaded by the student leaders and eventually plan to do two service-based events per month.

She added that there are plenty of organizations that depend on volunteers to run, such as local food banks, and she wants the Key Club to be able to help them out.

Sometimes teenagers can get a bad reputation in the community, Wilson said, and she hopes the Key Club and its efforts will begin to shift that mindset.

“I want the community to know that students are out here being productive and giving back,” she said.

Wilson explained that the Key Club will launch in an official capacity in the beginning of the 202122 school year, but she is hoping to garner plenty of interest now so the group can get off to a strong start.
