Q: The closer I get to make a decision about college. The more nervous I am getting about the future. Is this something a therapist can help me with? A:

Therapy is a safe, nonjudgmental space to explore anxious thoughts or cope with reality. Together, we can create a plan to help you identify pros and cons of what university is best for you, as well as identify coping tools and strategies to help you transition into your freshman year of college. During the COVID-19 pandemic, more therapists have taken the necessary steps to become board certified in providing continued telehealth services. This means, that you can continue to meet with your provider virtually via phone or video (contingent on licensure rules and regulations) as you transition into college for continued support. Choosing a college can feel like an overwhelming decision for many. You do not need to feel alone and overwhelmed with panic. Allow a skilled therapist or clinician be of support to help ease that burden with you. I work with a skilled team at PBHS to offer a variety of treatment methods to best suit your unique needs. Our practice utilizes Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which is an evidence-based treatment method. We will determine the best treatment plan for you or your family member, which may include IOP, individual therapy and/ or medication management.
