W-E Library hosts author talk

The Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library will be hosting a virtual presentation with author Jennifer Boresz Engelking at 6:30 p.m., May 6, as she discussed her new book “The Hidden History of Lake County, Ohio.”

Engelking uncovers the history behind some of Lake County’s most wellknown people and reveals stories lost to time. For instance, Willoughbeach Amusement Park arose where one of the worst shipwrecks in Great Lakes history occurred years before while Marge Hurlburt, a service pilot during World War II, set an international women’s flight speed record and Amy Kaukonen, one of the nation’s first female mayors, personally raided suspected bootleggers during Prohibition.

Engelking is an awardwinning and regional Emmy–nominated writer who has worked in both print and broadcast journalism. She was born and raised in Lake County.
