Mentor Planning Commission had a full plate of projects to digest at its most recent meeting.

They ranged from restaurants to a high-tech health care building.

The commission approved the final site plan and design for an Optima Dermatology center at 7676 Reynolds Road, just south of the Route 2-Route 306 interchange.

The applicant is proposing to demolish the existing Union Capital Mortgage building on the site and construct a 30-foot-tall, 5,738-square-foot medical office.

The preliminary plan was reviewed in March.

Services are to include general dermatology, treating all types of skin issues, surgery, clinical research and cosmetic services.

“We’ll have over $700,000 of the latest technological equipment in the building,” Optima representative Max Puyanic said at the March 25 meeting. “We’re also excited about our design.

“We want the building to represent what we do in spirit and the cutting-edge nature of the medicine that we practice.”

Commission Vice Chairman Richard Cicero dissented on the vote over the color scheme, much of which will be varying shades of gray.

“In that area, there’s a lot of lighter masonry,” he said. “The way it’s designed, it’s a very nicelooking building. To me, it doesn’t seem to fit the area and the other buildings around it.”

In other action, outdoor patios and preliminary site plans were approved for the new Mean Mugs Pub and Raising Cane’s locations, at 7061 Chillicothe Road and 6880 Center St., respectively.

The city is reserving the right to review the drive-through permit granted Raising Cane’s. It will comprise two driving lanes, and a third for bypass traffic and mobile order pickup during peak times.

“If there is any point in time that we’re experiencing concerns with traffic in heavy traffic volumes and any kind of stacking that’s leading out into (Route) 615 — and even the service drive that services City Market itself — we could ask then that it be brought back to the Planning Commission for further review and analysis, if there needs to be maybe some tweaking of the site plan and how that stacking works,” Mentor Planning Director Kathy Mitchell said.

The commission also approved the following:

• Final site plan for a GetGo prototype convenience store with drive-through and gas station at 6800 Center St.

• A conditional-use permit for an adult day care at 8370 Munson Road for Ashley’s Moon Shadow Support Services

• Preliminary site plan of a 15,960-square-foot office/warehouse building at 9455 Pinecone Drive for Joe Longo.

The commission’s next regular meeting is May 27.
