Extended Housing adds two new board members
Extended Housing recently announced Beverly Azre of Willoughby and Allen Weaver of Madison have been added to its board of directors.
Azre has been a lifelong mental health advocate and author of the book “Shadows on the Porch,” a memoir of three generations of mental illness within her family. She has seen up close the work of Extended Housing because she has a family member who benefits from their services, according to a news release.
She hopes to continue to help Extended Housing with its fundraising efforts.
Weaver previously has served on the boards of directors of the Eastern Lake County Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business Capital Corporation, Painesville United Methodist Church Finance Committee and Painesville City Improvement Corporation.
He recently retired from a 40-year career in the banking industry and wants to assist the Extended Housing board by providing financial guidance and insight as it grows through expanding and improving existing programs, introducing new programs, as well as assisting the board and Extended Housing’s staff in building long term financial security, the release stated.
When asked about the addition of Azre and Weaver to their board, Karen McLeod, Extended Housing’s executive director, commented “Beverly and Allen are proven advocates and leaders. My heart smiles in gratitude for their willing service.”
Extended Housing’s mission is to prevent and end homelessness for individuals in Lake County with serious mental illness, the release stated. It receives funding and support from the Lake County Alcohol, Drug Addiction, and Mental Health Services Board, which is responsible for planning, funding, and evaluating Lake County’s mental health and recovery services.
