Secret no more
Public now can dine outdoors with great views at Little Mountain Country Club in Concord Township
A well-kept dining secret of area golfers is a secret no more. ¶ Little Mountain Country Club in Concord Township has a new chef and is welcoming the public for several new food-and-drink experiences in its outdoor spaces overlooking the 18-hole golf course. ¶ “We have an incredible outdoor patio and wanted to give the neighbors and the community a chance to enjoy Little Mountain, too,” said Jimmy Hanlin, golf director.
Executive Chef Rob Stauch, who comes to Little Mountain with more than two decades of experience in fine dining and steak houses, will set up shop on the patio from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. most Sundays through September.
He’ll turn out made-to-order Omelet Brunch Plates for $10. Many ingredients will be available for diners to choose among, and each plate also will include roasted potatoes, a fruit cup and a choice of bacon or sausage.
Sunday Sippin’ Specials, available all day, will include pitchers of Mimosas for $20 (or $6 for one) and a House Bloody Mary with bacon, celery and olives at $6. The patio is covered, so meals will be offered rain or shine.
Then, every other Thursday, starting at 4 p.m. July 29, SmokeHouse Thursdays will reign on the back patio with slowcooked ribs at $3 per bone or $30 per rack. The chef plans to rotate other specials for SmokeHouse Thursdays, but the July 15 special was smoked tri-tip steak at $8 for one-fourth pound.
Sides include bourbon baked beans, mac ’n’ cheese, tangy Southern slaw and cornbread with jalapeno butter.
The SmokeHouse Thursdays menu will be available on the patio, for carryout and for golfers on the turn.
The 19th Hole Food & Drink is now open to the public with grab-and-go foods such as loaded tater tots ($8), hot dogs and brats, a Walking Taco of Doritos, ground beef, cheddar, sour cream, lettuce salsa and pickled jalapenos ($6). There also are foods better enjoyed as a sit-down meal, such as quesadillas and three kinds of pizza.
Drinks at the 19th Hole include a couple dozen beers priced from $3.50 to $5 plus drafts and hard seltzers.
A half dozen signature cocktails ($6 to $9) include the Mountain Transfusion, a mix of vodka, grape juice, ginger ale, lime and soda. Five wines, at $6 per glass or $24 per bottle, also are available.
In addition, there’s an on course bar just for golfers called The Hideaway. It’s nestled between holes 6 and 15.
