Guardians’ first game in 2022 set for March 31

In 2022, the team formerly known as the Indians — now the Guardians — will open the season at Progressiv­e Field on March 31, the team announced.

The home opener is part of a three-game set against the Royals. A three-game set with the Twins follows before the Guardians’ first trip in April.

The 2022 schedule features seven summer weekends at Progressiv­e Field, including Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends against the Yankees and Mariners, respective­ly. The longest homestand of the season is June 24 to July 3 against the Red Sox, Twins and Yankees.

Home interleagu­e opponents include the Giants, Padres, Reds and Diamondbac­ks.

The 76ers have signed nineyear veteran center Andre Drummond. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Drummond joins Philadelph­ia after splitting the 2020-21 season with Cleveland and the Lakers.
