PACKING UP
It’s that time of year again. Parents and students are planning their return to school, and budgeting for school supplies is at the top of the to-do list. For some families, this is a struggle and for some children, having inadequate tools creates stress and inhibits learning. Matt Smith, owner of RadioActive Electronics in Middlefield, is always looking for opportunities to help. “We, with the support of the TCC Verizon franchise, purchased great-looking backpacks,” said Smith. “Hopefully this gesture will help defray some of the back-to-school costs incurred by families-inneed in our local community.”
Joanne Leichtman, secretary to the superintendent at Cardinal Schools, picked up the backpacks for the students at Cardinal.
“We are extremely grateful for this gesture,” she said.
“These starter backpacks and are filled with needed supplies such as pens and pencils etc.,” said Todd Taylor, TCC Verizon rep currently working out of the RadioActive store in Middlefield.
Berkshire High School assistant principal Heather Giel explained that Berkshire has a Caring Closet program, and the backpacks will be made available to children that need essential supplies.
“This a great community,” said Smith, a Berkshire graduate. “We have always felt supported as a small business; so, in turn, we are thrilled when there are opportunities to give back.”
RadioActive Electronics, located in the heart of Middlefield Village, offers a full line of cellphones, including Verizon as service carrier, audio and visual electronics and security systems.
