Boys cross country runners to watch

(in alphabetic­al order) Brian Bates, Jr., NDCL: Had a breakout sophomore season as he finished fifth at the D-II district meet at Madison and 20th at the D-II regional at Boardman. Was unable to compete at the state meet due to COVID-19protocol.

Isaac Bourne, Jr., Chagrin Falls: Qualified for the regional meet after a 19th place finish at D-I Madison District. Placed 60th at Boardman.

Anthony Ciecierski, So., NDCL: Took 14th at the D-II Madison District and qualified with the rest of the NDCL team for the state meet. But missed the meet due to COVID protocol.

Sam Cohen, So., Hawken: Finished 21st at D-II Madison District to make it to Boardman, where he placed 55th. Luke Danison, Sr., Chardon: Danison improved his regional finish from 2019 with an 80th at Boardman.

Karl Dietz, So., Chardon: Qualified for the regional meet in 18th at the D-I Madison District. Placed 51st at regional. Nick Garcia-Whitko, So., Hawken: Made it to the state tournament in his freshman campaign and placed 67th at 17minutes, 8seconds. Took 19th at Boardman and eighth at Madison.

Braden Hunt, Sr., Kenston: Hunt is the lone returning runner from Kenston’s fifth-place finishing team. Bounced back from a 107th place regional result to finish 75th at state. B.K. Kwasniak, Sr., Cornerston­e Christian: Advanced to regional after a 13th at D-III Madison District. Finished 58th at Boardman.

Lucas Leggett, Sr., Berkshire: 14th at D-III Madison District, advancing to Boardman where he placed 69th. Caden Linnert, Sr. NDCL: Three-time state qualifier for the Lions. Was 44th at Boardman last season, but couldn’t compete at the state meet due to COVID-19 protocol.

Hunter Longo, Sr., Chagrin Falls: Missed on qualifying for state by a second and a half with his 25th place at Boardman. Took sixth at D-II

Madison District to qualify for regional.

Nate Miller, Sr., University: Took ninth at the D-I Madison District and 92nd at Boardman. Qualified for the state tournament in 2018 and 2019. Joshua Risko, Sr., Mentor: Advanced to the Division I state meet, where he took 57th at 16minutes, 27seconds. Placed 53rd at Boardman and 19th at Madison.

Bryce Weber, Sr., Riverside: Qualified for the regional meet after a 24th place finish at the D-I Madison District. Placed 103rd at Boardman.

Chris Whiting, Jr., West Geauga: Made it to regional with a 24th at the D-II Madison District. Went on to place 70th at Boardman.
