Outlook

The Huskies’ defense returns all but one starter. With a defensive-minded head coach in Chris Perrotti, Cardinal wants to set the tone and play physical upfront on that side of the ball. On the other side of the ball, the offensive line returns four of their five starters. The lone new face is freshman left guard Max Soltis, who was a standout in middle school and earned a starting spot on the line at left guard. He has two solid players on either side of him with his brother Mike Soltis (6-2, 275) at left tackle and John Avalon (6-1, 265) at center to lean on and learn from.

Player to watch

Mike Soltis is a returning

All-Ohio offensive lineman, and will protect quarterback Logan Strever’s blind side as the left tackle. He also has the task of helping his younger brother who starts next to him as a freshman. With a veteran offensive line around him, he will be the anchor.

Underclassman to watch:

Josh Soltis is going to be a key player coming off the bench for Cardinal. He has been working well with

Strever in the offensive backfield and has improved his already great vision out of the backfield. He will be splitting time at the running back positions with Zach Czako and JR Kochy.

Bottom line

IF: The Huskies defense lives up to expectations; THEN: Cardinal will be in contention for the CVC Valley title.
