Fairmount Center for the Arts announces the next programs in their “Pull Back the Curtain” Speaker Series this fall.

The programs, which are free and open to all, are scheduled for Oct. 24 and Nov. 14, both at 3 p.m. Professional dancer Kate Webb Berk will be the featured speaker in October and Art Historian Felicia Zavarella Stadelman will be featured in November, according to a news release.

All programs are held at the center located at 8400 Fairmount Road in Russell Township.

This is the third year of Fairmount’s “Pull Back the Curtain” Speaker Series which aims to provide a variety of interesting and insightful programs offered free and open to all.

“Though Fairmount’s core programs are classes and music lessons in the arts, the Speaker Series programs offer a variety of engaging topics designed to inspire and connect the community,” Executive Director Jeannie Fleming-Gifford said in the release.

Berk dances professionally with Verb Ballets where she has been a company dancer for seven years. She also has been on faculty at Fairmount since 2015 where in addition to teaching the advanced ballet classes, she is the director of the Fairmount Dance Company.

Berk will share insight, stories and tales from her professional career as a ballerina during her October talk.

Stadelman has been an artist since elementary school, and has gone on to a career as an art historian and artist. Stadelman has worked on exhibits locally and abroad, and was featured in a 2017 French documentary on the relationship between Mary Cassat and Edgar Degas.

In her speaker series, Stadelman will present an inside look at one of the bestknown artists of the Renaissance, Leonardo da Vinci.

For both events, reserve a ticket by calling 440338-3171 or visiting https:// www.fairmountcenter.org/ special-events/.

These programs are free and open to the community and include refreshments, thanks to the support of Toby and Melanie Maloney, the release stated. While the presentations are designed for adults, they are family-friendly.
