The Holden University Center of Lakeland Community College has added Case Western Reserve University to its list of partner schools, officials announced this week.

Case’s Siegal Lifelong Learning Program will join 11 other partner colleges and universities offering area residents educational opportunities through Holden University Center.

According to the Lakeland, Siegal Lifelong Learning Program connects the academic world to the wider community through innovative and engaging programming. Adults of all ages pursue learning by participating in courses and lectures provided by Case faculty members, renowned scholars, and local subject-area experts.

Students enrolled in courses or lectures offered by partnering institutions, both in person or remotely, have access to facilities on the Lakeland campus.

“This partnership will allow Lakeland to offer more high-quality, noncredit learning opportunities to area residents,” said Laura Barnard, executive vice president and provost of Lakeland. “It complements our current professional development courses in health care, computers and technology, business and management, and human services.”

The Siegal Lifelong Learning Program offers a variety of courses and lectures on a myriad of topics, including art, history, politics, science, religion, literature and more.

The program also includes an 11-week Senior Scholars program.

Siegal Lifelong Learning offers both online and in-person programming. In-person courses and lectures are held at Case’s main campus in University Circle, Siegal’s Beachwood facility, in locations throughout Northeast Ohio, and now Holden University Center in Kirtland.

“Case Western Reserve University is excited to launch a partnership with Lakeland Community College to bring an array of courses to adults in Lake County,” said Siegal Executive Director Brian Amkraut.

“Through this collaboration, we are able to build on the strengths and resources of each of our organizations to provide highquality learning opportunities in a broader geographic range.”

Courses and lectures are currently available remotely. Beginning in October, courses will be available in person at Holden University Center.

Since its inception in 2001, the center has brought 22 bachelor’s degree programs, 15 graduate degree programs, eight graduate certificates and endorsement programs, one doctoral program, and “lifelong learning opportunities” from 12 university partners.
