In Luke Chapter 5, I read how the apostle Peter and his fellow fishermen were up all night in a boat trying to catch fish. However, in spite of their great efforts, their nets remained unfilled.

These fishermen were professionals, knowing that night was the best time to fish, and they were in an area known to them for abundant catches. They did everything they could. Yet, they still came up empty. They had not caught so much as a single, little fish. So, the fishermen went back to the shore, washed their nets and wanted to forget about the whole failed experience.

Have you been waiting for something with no response? Did you make a mistake, experience a disappointment? Or, have you tried to accomplish a goal and then came up empty?

The Bible account continues. That day Jesus was teaching by the lakeside, crowded with people. He saw two empty boats and got into one of them. He asked Peter to push out a short distance from the shore. When Jesus finished speaking, He instructed Peter to, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.”

Peter was tired, frustrated, and filled with doubt, and replied, “Master, we worked hard all night, and caught nothing.” Yet, after a brief protest, Peter obeyed Jesus and said, “But at your bidding, I will let down the nets.”

When Peter tried again, he succeeded. The fish came one after the other, after the other. The nets were so full of fish that they stretched to the point of breaking and even began to tear. They signaled to others for help, for even with two boats, because of the abundance of fish caught, the boats were so weighed down they began to sink.

Just when it appeared that all was lost, only a bit further out was victory. And the results were far better than the fishermen could have ever imagined.

Often times, when we are on the very brink of success, challenges come. Then, we might stop progressing forward. “Why even try anymore?” we could utter, as doubts begin to fill our mind, and we start to convince ourselves that ‘it doesn’t look good, ‘circumstances will never change,’ and ‘The best days are long gone.’ Thereafter, we may settle far beneath what we know God wants for us.

But God has not brought you to this point to leave you here. And if you give up now, you’ll never know what will be and could be. So, no matter what your situation looks like, refuse to quit.

When my daughter was about 6 years old, I recall how she loved music and she spoke about being a musician one day. Sometimes, she would take the cushions off of the couch, she’d placed her tiny fingers on the material and imagined that the couch was a keyboard. Next, she would sing while she pretended to play a song. Similar to my daughter playing the pretend keyboard on the cushions of the couch, you may not have the tangible yet. Nonetheless, when you have a dream in your heart, even if you don’t have everything you need at the moment, you should always keep on striving.

So continue praying, persevering and honoring God. He has a great plan for your life, and He has the necessary power, resources and means to help you to accomplish those good objectives. Be optimistic and expect good things to happen. For God is going to touch you with His Hand of blessings. You’ll receive the breakthrough for which you have waited for. New doors of opportunity will be opened. And you’ll prevail over what looks impossible. For when the blessings come, they will happen one after the other, after the other.

Therefore, all through the day, speak words of hope and faith over your future and into other people’s lives. For what you say can come to pass. Look away from past disappointments; and with a prayer of thankfulness, cast out your nets of faith and state:

• There may be some obstacles in my path, but they can be overcome, for I am more than a conqueror. (Romans 8:37).

• My goals may appear impossible, yet they can be achieved, because nothing is impossible with God. (Luke 1:37).

• I may have some limitations, although that won’t stop me since God is able to make all grace abound to me. I have all that I need to prosper in every good work. (2 Corinthians 9:8).

• Regardless of what the reports say, I still have a lot of loving and living to do, so I’ll press on, for a reward is coming. (Hebrews 10:35).

“From the fullness of his grace we have all received one blessing after another.” John 1:16

A while ago, I heard about a philanthropist who gave millions of dollars to needy people. Often, he would roam the city streets typically handing out $100 bills to people he met along the way. The man had overcome many struggles in his life, and now he wanted to bless his fellow human beings. So, one after the other the man handed out the money.

Likewise, God is overflowing with a desire to hand out to you a never-ending supply of gracious blessings. One blessing, followed by another, and yet another–right after that. So get excited again. Right now, God is orchestrating the right turn of events to positively bless your future. Your time for success is drawing close. And because you put your trust in Him, your life will be full, and you’ll have more peace, love and joy than before. You will go further than you ever dreamed. Thus, give God your highest praise, as you watch in awe and see His Hand of blessings on your life.
