On deck: Winner advances to play (1) Toledo St. John’s or (5) Ottawa Hills in a Division II state semifinal on May 31.
For the record: These two met earlier in the season with Chagrin Falls taking a 12-9victory over the Preppers. The Tigers
were able to handle their business against US with an early lead and never looked back. The big three of Cam Croasdaile, Michael Maschke and Fritz Clark accounted for 12 of the Tigers 15 goals against the Preppers. If University hopes to flip the script this time, getting the ball out of those three’s sticks needs to be a priority. … Defensively, Max Crandall and Charlie Frederick combined for 15 ground balls against US. Both have been able to contribute in multiple facets of the game with Crandall having an impact on both sides of the midfield and Frederick has been strong in the face-off circle. … University saw Kenston cut their lead to one goal in the fourth quarter in its regional semifinal but hat tricks from Preston Blue and Charlie Freer helped put the game out of reach. Julian Guirguis and Campbell Crowley also contributed with a pair of goals a piece. The versatility of the University attack will make communication for the Tigers defense very important. … The Preppers will need Tommy Vertanessian be on his toes when he sees the Chagrin Falls attack coming at him while orchestrating the defense.
