Geauga Park District is excited to reopen its “ropes & boats” recreational offerings for the season on Saturday, May 28, during the festive Memorial Day weekend.
New this year, Claridon Woodlands’ ropes course is now offering less-rushed adventures with slightly larger groups and more time on the course, featuring platforms 32 feet off the ground, linked by eight 23-to-32-foot-long challenge elements, and an exciting 100-foot-long zipline exit! This season, high ropes will be open for hour-and-a-half-long sessions Saturdays and Sundays at 10:30 a.m., noon, 2:30 and 4 p.m.; and Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays at 12:30, 2, 4:30, and 6 p.m. Access is free to all Geauga County residents (ID required) and $20 for outof-county residents (credit card only, paid onsite). To make a reservation (highly recommended), check availability, learn age requirements and weight restrictions, and more, be sure to read the information posted at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org/activity/high-ropes-course ahead of time. (Or, for those who don’t want such a grand or scheduled adventure, try Claridon Woodlands’ 12-foot-high, 900-square-foot freeform boulder wall, complete with new routes and special new rock holds to mix things up!)
Those craving a warm-weather adventure on the water need look no further than Headwaters Park’s boathouse: your late spring and summer hub for kayak and canoe borrowing on a first-come, first-served basis. New this year, two paddleboats seating up to four people are also available to borrow for one hour at a time. This season, the park’s limited number of kayaks, canoes and paddleboats will be available to borrow Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last boats out at 4 p.m.; and Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 7 p.m., with last boats out at 6 p.m.
Geauga County residents can borrow boats for free (ID required), while outof-county residents must pay various amounts for adults, kids 12 and under, tandem and paddleboats; please refer to the website for pricing. Provided life vests must be worn at all times. To learn more, please read the information posted at www.geaugaparkdistrict.org/park/ headwaters-park before you head out. Periodic updates on both these offerings might also be found at geaugaparkdistrict.org under News & Updates.
