Actress to speak at gala
McCormick known for role on ‘The Brady Bunch’
Maureen McCormick, best known for her role as Marcia Brady in “The Brady Bunch” television series, will be the keynote speaker this year at the Oct. 27 The LCADA Way Pearls of Wisdom annual Benefit and Recognition Dinner, according to a news release.
The event will take place at Embassy Suites Rockside in Independence.
The LCADA Way, a private, nonprofit serving Cuyahoga, Lorain, Medina and Erie counties and surrounding communities, is recognized as a leader in wellness and addiction recovery since 1981, the release said.
“We are very excited to have Ms. McCormick as our keynote speaker,” said Dan Haight, president and CEO of The LCADA Way.
“Her personal experiences as an actress and her story of addiction triumph and recovery will be sure to inspire all.”
McCormick is a television and film actress, singer, author and designer.
Despite professional success, she struggled in her personal life with substance addictions, as well as bouts of depression and anxiety, and now lives a life of sobriety for over 40 years.
In 2008, McCormick published an autobiography, “Here’s the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice,” which debuted at number four on The New York Times bestseller list.
The LCADA Way Pearls of Wisdom Annual Benefit and Recognition Dinner is held each year to honor individuals and organizations who help those impacted by drug, alcohol and gambling addiction, according to the release.
