Adela Cecelia Melzer

Age 84, died at Hospice of the Western Reserve in Cleveland on June 29, 2022. She was born on January 3, 1938, to Andrew and Anna (nee: Janusiak) Niewulis in Cleveland, Ohio. Adele was an Operating Room Registered Nurse who worked at St. Vincent Charity and Hillcrest Hospital. Alongside with her husband, Richard, whom she married on May 29, 1965, in Bedford, Ohio, they founded Melzer’s Fuel Service in 1977. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in

Chardon, the Women’s Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagle’s Geauga Aerie #2261, and a member and Past President of the Chardon VFW Post #6519 Auxiliary. She was an avid supporter of Cleveland professional sports teams. She and her husband loved to travel. After her husband and their son Andrew’s passing, she continued to travel with her best friend and travel companion Barb Prinkey.

She is survived by her son Richard (Janet) Melzer of Chardon, brother Thomas Niewulis of Twinsburg, grandson Andrew Melzer of Chardon and best friend and companion Barb Prinkey.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1999, her son Andrew in 2015, brother’s Andrew (Connie) Niewulis, Albin (Carol) Niewulis, sister Anna Mae (Joe) Lech and sister-in-law Joanne Niewulis.

The family will receive friends from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2022. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow to begin at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 401 North St., Chardon, Ohio. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
