Kathleen D. “Kathy” (nee Brindley) Schmitt, 75, of Willoughby, passed away

Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022, at University Hospitals of Cleveland.

Born Aug. 30, 1946, in Cleveland, she had been a lifetime resident of Lake County.

Kathy was a member of the Willoughby Eagles Aerie 2300 Ladies Auxiliary. She was an excellent homemaker and loved baking, especially baking breads and cookies. She also enjoyed bowling.

Mrs. Schmitt was as a clerk for the Willoughby Police Department in 1975, served as the secretary of City of Willoughby Council in 1976, and then went into the nursing field. She worked for Mentor MedNet and Dr. Wilson.

Kathy was the beloved wife of 44 years to Ken Schmitt; loving mother of Donna M. Massengill (Janet Work), Bobby T. (Shelby) Massengill, Karlene E. (John) Fullerman, Kenneth R. Schmitt, and Steven A. Schmitt; cherished grandmothe­r of Ryan (Cali) Blankenshi­p, Bladen Massengill, Jayne Fullerman, Lucy Fullerman and Nora Fullerman; dear sister of Daniel (Cheryl) Brindley and Denise (Dale) Fross; and aunt of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Arlene (nee Hoffman) Brindley; and brothers, James (Doreen Marie, dec.) Brindley and Michael Brindley.

Family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McMahon-Coyne-Vitantonio Funeral Home, 38001 Euclid Ave., Willoughby, where a funeral service will take place 10 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will follow in Willoughby Cemetery.
