City honors, awards dedicated employees
Richmond Heights recently hosted an Employee Appreciation Dinner to honor members of their staff and present various awards for their service to the city.
This is the first time the city has hosted the event which took place on Feb. 7 at Kiwanis Lodge. Pearl Flower Catering provided dinner to the civil servants in attendance.
Mayor Kim Thomas and City Council President Bobby Jordan and directors from each branch of city government presented each award to their employee of the year recognizing them for the work they accomplished.
“When we started last year, we wanted to put together an award system to recognize certain employees,” Thomas said.
“To the members of our community who don’t receive awards, I just want to express to you that you are a part of our family. You are appreciated for everything you do, and your time is coming.”
Thomas said that they had long wanted to implement a means of showing their appreciation toward their staff and are happy to collaborate with their directors to honor the people that help run the city.
“We spoke to all our directors and got feedback to determine who was going above and beyond the call of duty.” Thomas said “I talked to a couple people on our staff and we all decided to do something to celebrate the people that build our community. We want to honor and recognize the people who make our city work.”
Those members that were honored include Beverly Schilero from the Building Department, Rachel Gardiner of the Economic Department, Kathy Gamber from Human Resources, Lt. Jason Buss of the Fire Department, S Joe Arbogast of the Police Department and many more.
Thomas hopes to provide more awards like this to recognize city employees and said that they hope to implement an Employee of the Month system soon.
