Kaayla Chones Award watch list

The Kaayla Chones Award goes to The News-Herald’s girls basketball player of the year. It is named after the former North girls basketball standout who was awarded Ohio’s Ms. Basketball and played at North Carolina State and then in the WNBA.

This week we have trimmed the list to 11semifina­lists. This week’s list, in alphabetic­al order, includes: Elizabeth Dunmire, VASJ, Fr.: She is averaging 21.0 points, 9.1 rebounds, 4.9 steals, 2.6assists and 2.1 blocks per game with 37 3-pointers made.

Alexa Hocevar, West Geauga, Sr.:

She is averaging 14.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.8assists, 2.3 steals and 1.2 blocks per game.

Helen Holley, Gilmour, Jr.: She is averaging 14.7 points, 11.7rebounds, 3.3steals, 2.6 assists and 2.5 blocks per game.

Savanah Laurenty, Riverside, Jr.: She is averaging 17.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.8 steals per game.

Kara McFadden, Fairport,

Sr.: She is averaging 28.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 4.2steals and 1.0 block per game with 124 3-pointers made.

Grace McKoon, Perry, Sr.: She is averaging 18.0 points, 2.8steals and 2.1assists per game with 42 3-pointers made.

Kailey Minch, North, Sr.:

She is averaging 20.0 points, 2.7assists and 2.2 steals with 81 3-pointers made.

Lilly Stukus, Chagrin Falls, So.: She is averaging 16.1 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.6steals per game with 50 3-pointers made.

Emily Noerr, Chardon, Sr.: She finished the season averaging 17.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.9 steals and 2.6steals per game with 16 3-pointers made.

Brooklynn Vickers, Brush, Jr.: She finished the season averaging 17.3 points, 4.4 steals and 3.0assists per game with 55 3-pointers made.

Claire Wakim, Madison, Jr.: She finished the season averaging 14.3 points, 11.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 3.2 steals and 1.0 block per game with 11 3-pointers made.
