LEAF plans two sessions for students
The free virtual meetings for those considering college will take place on March 13 and March 20
The Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation, or LEAF, will be holding two upcoming free virtual information sessions.
The first — “Making Sense of College Loan Options Virtual Information Session” — will take place at 6:30 p.m., March 13, on a Google Meet.
Once a student receives their college financial aid award letter, there is often a gap between the cost to attend and the aid received. Loans can be used to fill that gap and attendees of this session will learn more about available loan options — Subsidized vs Unsubsidized or Parent PLUS vs Private — and their impact on their future, according to a news release.
Then, the “Playing College Sports Virtual Information Session” will take place at 6:30 p.m., March 20.
This is for students interested in continuing their athletic career in college but are unsure if they qualify to play or at what level — NCAA, NAIA, NJCAA.
A panel of local college coaches and administrators will talk about how students can continue their playing career in college, recruitment, NCAA eligibility, athletic scholarships, and more, the release stated.
While these sessions are free, registration is required at leaf-ohio.org or by calling 440-525-7095.
LEAF is a nonprofit that provides services to Northeast Ohio residents and families that are interested in enrolling in career technical programs, community colleges, four-year colleges, and universities, according to the release. LEAF provides information, inspiration, and motivation for students to navigate the education process beyond high school.
