Painesville has gardens available
The Red Raider Community Gardens at Elm Street Elementary School in Painesville is now accepting gardener applications for the 2023 growing season.
Garden plots are available at 585 Elm St. and include four-by-eight-foot raised beds for $25 and 10-by-20-foot in-ground beds for $40. The Community Gardens season is from April 1 through Nov. 15, according to a news release.
Applications are available in person at Elm Street Elementary School, Painesville City Schools Board Office, Painesville City Hall and Morley Library.
Applications are also available online at redraidergardens.wixsite.com/ home.
Red Raider Community Gardens is a collaborative effort between Painesville City Schools, the City of Painesville, First Church Congregational, Lake Erie College, the Lake County General HealthDistrict and a handful of volunteers from the Lake County Master Gardeners, the release stated.
This year, the group received funding from the Lake County Community Development Block Grant to build a shed and fence to enclose the garden.
