Painesvill­e has gardens available

The Red Raider Community Gardens at Elm Street Elementary School in Painesvill­e is now accepting gardener applicatio­ns for the 2023 growing season.

Garden plots are available at 585 Elm St. and include four-by-eight-foot raised beds for $25 and 10-by-20-foot in-ground beds for $40. The Community Gardens season is from April 1 through Nov. 15, according to a news release.

Applicatio­ns are available in person at Elm Street Elementary School, Painesvill­e City Schools Board Office, Painesvill­e City Hall and Morley Library.

Applicatio­ns are also available online at redraiderg­ardens.wixsite.com/ home.

Red Raider Community Gardens is a collaborat­ive effort between Painesvill­e City Schools, the City of Painesvill­e, First Church Congregati­onal, Lake Erie College, the Lake County General HealthDist­rict and a handful of volunteers from the Lake County Master Gardeners, the release stated.

This year, the group received funding from the Lake County Community Developmen­t Block Grant to build a shed and fence to enclose the garden.
