Summer Youth Aviation Camp taking enrollments
The members of the Experimental Aviation Association Chapter 5 announced they are now taking enrollments for their annual week-long day camp for students going into grades 6 through 10 who are interested in flying.
The EAA Chapter 5 Summer Youth Aviation Camp will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. July 10-14 at the Geauga County Airport in Hangar 3 and is designed for kids with a real interest in aviation.
Students will actively participate in learning about aerodynamics, parts of a plane, the engine, flight operations, careers in aviation; will develop skills in map reading, riveting, woodworking and building; and will be given opportunities to tour the airport facilities and to “fly” on flight simulators.
There will be daily activities such as glider flying contests and scientific experimentation, as well as recreational fun activities. After the camp, there will be an opportunity for campers to take a Young Eagle Flight on July 15.
Space in the camp is limited to 18 students to allow for more hands-on opportunities, the release stated. Registration forms and a $150 fee are due by May 25.
A T-shirt, hat and supplies are included; participants should bring their own lunch though snacks will be provided. Scholarships are available, the release stated.
Corporate sponsorship positions are also available.
