LEC welcomes storytelle­r

Profession­al storytelle­r Paul Strickland returns to Lake Erie College at 7 p.m. March 16 to present his show “Once Upon a Lie” in the CK Rickel Theatre at Royce Hall for the Fine and Performing Arts on the campus in Painesvill­e.

The performanc­e of “Once Upon a Lie” is free and open to the public, but because seats are limited, advance reservatio­ns are requested by visiting LEC’s website. Free, parking is in the lot adjacent to Royce Hall, with the lot entrance on Gillett Street.

Strickland is a storytelle­r and theater artist with well over seven hours of unique family friendly stories in his repertoire, according to a news release. His tall tales stretch the imaginatio­n and have won “Best of Fest” seven times at Fringe Festivals in the U.S. and Canada.

Strickland will also give a workshop to students in Professor Jaffe’s CMY 101 Introducti­on to Comedy course at 9:30 a.m. March 16 in Royce Hall. The community is welcome to observe. Those interested in attending should contact Prof Jaffe at 440-375-7451.

Geauga SWCD taking fish orders

The Geauga Soil and Water Conservati­on District is now taking orders for its annual Spring Fish Sale.

Options are fingerling­size largemouth bass, channel catfish, bluegill/sunfish mix, minnows, redear “shellcrack­er” sunfish, perch, and white amurs, according to a news release. Pond safety kits are also available.

The Fish Sale will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. April 13 on the midway of the Geauga County Fairground­s in Burton. Order deadline is April 7.

Visit geaugaswcd.com for the online ordering link to place orders and make payments. If unable to use the online ordering option, a form is available to submit with payment.

All proceeds support the district’s education programs.
