On Deck: Winner advances to the state semifinal and will play the winner of Bishop Ready and Fairfield Union at the University of Dayton on March 17at 2p.m.

For the Record: These two met in the district final a season ago, but the stakes have been raised this time. Gilmour pulled yet another rabbit out of its hat when it came back to force overtime against Glenville and then held the Tarblooders to two points in the extra frame as they look for their second straight trip to the state round. The Lancers were once again led by seniors Adisa Molton and

Brandon Rose. They had 22 and 18points, respectively, and will need to keep their recent hot streak going. Gilmour will need Rose to get back to the boards as he finished the first half against Glenville without a rebound. The Lancers also have David Pfundstein and Tim Lee with length underneath. They can help on the glass if Rose is boxed out. The Lancers will need their shots from deep to fall as they struggled with that against the Tarblooders’ zone. … Buchtel had to work some magic of its own to be on the opposite end of the court of Gilmour. After a hot start against Chaney, the Cowboys battled back into the game thanks to a strong defensive third quarter. But they couldn’t quiet the duo of Marcel Boyce Jr. and Kohi Thurmon with 23 and 16points, respectively. The Griffins play physical defense inside as they’ve held opponents to 54points a game. While they play aggressive defense, the Griffins don’t feature a lot of size inside. After Gilmour had an emphasis on rebounding as they prepared for Glenville, that could be the difference-maker. The Lancers will need to limit Buchtel’s attack as they average 70.8points per game.
