2023 Spring Art Show coming soon

“The Color Trail (die Farbspur)” will feature the works of Kirtland artist Angela Schaal

Lake Metroparks’ 2023 Spring Art Show, entitled “The Color Trail (die Farbspur)” will feature the works of Kirtland artist Angela Schaal.

“Her enchanting nature paintings are created in a variety of media including watercolor, oil, and collage,” describes Wendy Pittenger, Lake Metroparks’ Exhibit Naturalist and Art Show coordinato­r, in a news release.

The “Color Trail (die Farbspur)” opens March 18 and runs from 9 a.m to 5 p.m. daily through May 14. Artwork will be available for purchase.

Visitors can meet Schaal at the opening reception from noon to 4 p.m. March 18.

Schaal was born and raised in Dresden, Germany, and taught German, mathematic­s and art for more than 20 years, the release stated. She moved to the U.S. in 2014 and continues her passion for teaching and art.

Other activities at Penitentia­ry Glen Reservatio­n include hiking more than eight miles of scenic trails; birding; interactin­g with nature in Nature Play, a children’s outdoor wild play space; or snowshoein­g through the park.

Inside the Nature Center, patrons can discover the wildlife found in fields, wetlands and forests in the interactiv­e Life Cycle Secrets exhibit or try camping in the new Come and Play exhibit.

People can also browse the nature-themed gifts at The Nature Store, including children’s books, bird feeders, t-shirts and field guides. he Nature Center is open 9 a.m to 5 p.m. daily.

The show opens March 18 and will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily through May 14
