Tennessee man arrested in shooting of man in Wickliffe

A 22-year old Tennessee man has been arrested and charged in the shooting of a 52-year-old man in Wickliffe.

According to a Wickliffe Police Department news release, on April 7 at 4:40 p.m., several 911 phone calls reported gunshots heard and a male who had been shot in the 1900 block of E. 290th St.

Wickliffe officers responded and located a 52-year-old male victim on the sidewalk who had been struck by gunfire. Officers rendered aid, including the applicatio­n of tourniquet­s to the man’s limbs which had sustained gunshot wounds.

The Wickliffe Fire Department was summoned to the scene and continued medical aid to the shooting victim while he was taken to University Hospitals Lake West Medical Center.

The victim was later flown by helicopter to UH Main Campus in Cleveland for additional care.

As of the time of the release, the victim is listed in critical but stable condition.

A suspect was identified who had fled the scene in a vehicle prior to officer’s arrival, according to the release.

Contact was eventually made with the suspect by phone who later returned to a residence in Willowick several hours later. Willowick Police officers assisted Wickliffe officers and the suspect was taken into custody without incident and is currently being held on several felony charges with no bond at the Wickliffe Police Department jail.
