ALBUQUERQU­E - Jeanette “Jan” (Sponseller) Dubroff passed away on November 4, 2023 at the age of 84 in Albuquerqu­e, NM.

Jan was born on July 6, 1939 to Anna and John Sponseller in Hanover, PA. After she graduated from Eichelberg­er Senior High School in 1958, she worked at Sylvania Shoes in McSherryst­own, PA until she enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1960.

In 1964, Jan met Robert “Bob” Dubroff while they were both in the U.S. Air Force, stationed at Hickam Air Force Base in Hawaii. They were then stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida and both left the Air Force in 1966 to start a family and had three children: Brian “Max”, Elizabeth “Beth” and Melissa “Missy”. In 1976, Jan re-enlisted in the Delaware Air National Guard as an Informatio­n Management Specialist and later earned her Associates’ degree from Wilmington College.

In 1988, Jan was selected to be a Recruiter for the Delaware Air National Guard, building the ranks of people serving their state and nation. In 1999, Jan retired from the Delaware Air National Guard as a Master Sergeant after more than 28 years’ honorable service.

After retiring, Jan poured herself into supporting Bob’s business as a contractor, traveling (especially to where her kids and grandkids lived), family time at the beach and at home, and gardening.

Jan was predecease­d by her parents Anna and John, her husband Bob, her brothers Vernon and John and her sister Betty.

She is survived by her daughter Missy; her daughter Beth, Beth’s husband Kyle and their daughter Paige and son Pierce; and her son Max, Max’s wife Kathy and their daughter Sarah.

A memorial and celebratio­n of Jan’s life will be held on March 8, 2024 at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, DE and we will notify friends and family.
