EXMORE - Mr. Richard “Rick” Hartman passed away peacefully at home on March 21, 2024, in Lewes, Delaware at the age of 76.

Rick is survived by his wife, Virginia “Ginny” Hartman; his children: Beth, Cathy, Billy; grandchild­ren, Molly, Mary, Hamish, and Alec.

Rick was born on August 6, 1947, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Mary and Kenneth Hartman. He graduated from the University of Delaware in 1971 with a degree in Engineerin­g Business.

Rick married his college sweetheart, a teacher, in 1970. After moving to Wilmington Delaware, Rick began working for ACandS as an engineer/ salesman. Over the next few years, the couple welcomed three children into their home. His children remember him as an honest, hardworkin­g, kind, funny, and personable father who encouraged them to remember “a stranger is a friend you haven’t met yet.”

Rick enjoyed sailing, boating, crabbing, and fishing at the family’s vacation home in Exmore, Virginia. He was a friendly and confident individual who loved a good party, cared for his family, and enjoyed life. Rick was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity and remained good friends with his fraternity brothers over the years.

A celebratio­n of life will be held on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 3-6, at Irish Eyes 213 Anglers Rd, Lewes, DE 19958. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Rick’s life.
