WEST CHESTER - PA - John Andrew Snider, 94, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, March 28, 2024, surrounded by his family. Born on August 15, 1929, in Charleston, West Virginia, John was the son of the late Earl B. Snider and Janet Laidley Snider. He graduated from Charleston High School and served in the US Army in Japan as a staff sergeant in the 7th Cavalry. John graduated from Virginia Polytechni­c Institute in 1952 with an Engineerin­g degree and was president of his class. His 40-year career at the E.I. DuPont de Nemours Company, began at the Belle Works near Charleston and he retired in 1992 as the worldwide Marketing Manager of “Butacite,” a core DuPont business at the time. John is survived by his wife, Sandra von dem Knesebeck Snider, his children: Ann Laidley Valentine (Braxton), of Warsaw VA, Charles Taylor Snider (Lori), of Timnath, CO, and John Andrew Snider Jr. (Betty Ann) of Buford, GA. He also leaves behind his stepchildr­en: Ms. Maria Louise Fogman of Whitefield, NH, and Carl Paridam Fogman (Noemi) of Cologne, Germany. Additional­ly he is cherished by four grandchild­ren: Marshall Rowan Hagaman, Carl Joseph Snider, Corey Alexander Snider and Sofia Fogman Andino. He was predecease­d by his brother William and his first wife, Ann Taylor. John possessed an unmatched ability to light up any room. His zest for life, love of people, and intellectu­al curiosity will be his enduring legacy. He was a devoted and loyal father, husband and friend. John’s body was donated to the Humanity Gifts Registry, advancing medical education and research in Pennsylvan­ia. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Chester County Abramson Cancer Center (701 E. Marshall St., West Chester, PA 19803) whose dedicated staff provided John with exceptiona­l care.
