Agent connects with clients

- Rachel Jones

ARealtor with dual licenses in Connecticut and New York, Rachel Jones got into the business in 2014. With a bachelor’s degree in marketing from New York State University, Jones worked in advertising for about seven years. Her intuition and the fact that the long hours were burning her out led to a move to real estate, a job that gives her more freedom and allows her to spend time with family.

In her previous career Jones honed people skills.

“Being very personable,” she said was something she carried over from her earlier work experiences.

“I think really being a people person and really knowing how to talk to people, how to work with people and just having a lot of compassion.”

What sets her apart is her philosophy to live authentically.

“There’s a really, really great quote that I love and you’ll have heard of the author ‘People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care,’” she said, adding the quote was by Zig Ziglar.

Jones said she stays true to three core values. First, she listens to her clients’ needs. Second, she helps them achieve their desired goals. Third, she endeavors to live with integrity and have a strong moral compass.

“Living with those core values, it shows that you’re authentic,” she said. “It’s not really about the money, it’s about the person.”

When working with buyers, Jones, who serves Greater Danbury and the bordering towns, said it’s important to help them understand the process, manage their ex-

pectations and make sure they get preapproved before trying to move forward.

“It’s important to help them understand the process,” she said. “People want to buy a house but they haven’t even gone to first base and they’re already talking about second base. You can’t buy a house without being preapproved.”

With sellers, she also does some educating, performs a market analysis, shows them what’s out there and creates a plan of execution.

Jones has been married for more than 20 years and has a 20 year old daughter and three grown step children. She enjoys large family get-togethers with her blended family and all the kids and their spouses.
