Ask the residents of 260 Willow St. in Southport what is their favorite space in the home, and each one is likely to give a different answer.

“Each person in my family has a particular spot that calls to them,” said the owner. “My father loves sunning himself on his deck with the pool and harbor in the background, my husband loves the top floor where he can look out at the view or escape to read. I love having our friends and family in the enclosed Spanish terrace with its fire pit and comfy sofas and where we can eat al fresco.”

The majestic brick Georgian colonial sits on one and a quarter acres on a quiet cul-de-sac in the heart of Southport Village just steps to the harbor. The storybook setting affords a wonderful water-oriented lifestyle that captivated the owners from the moment they first set eyes on it.

“Driving down Willow Street and seeing the blue of the water at the end of what seemed like a country lane in Cape Cod made a lasting impression on us,” the owner recalls. “There really is no other street like it in Southport. To be able to buy a house on this street was a dream.”

The house is just a walk to town, the train station, library, beaches, and yacht club. The owner’s boys also enjoyed launching their boat right from the end of the road.

“I’m going to miss the friendly neighborhood where friends drop in,” she added. “Most of all we will all miss the setting of our house and how well it fits in that setting. It is a joy to come home to.”

The owners did extensive renovations on the home, adding gardens and bringing light and warmth into the interior, creating an exceptional setting for entertaining.

A spacious formal living room with fireplace opens to a lightfilled sunroom with walls of windows overlooking the lawn, pool and spectacular gardens. A dining room with classic molding is just off the newly renovated kitchen featuring top-of-theline appliances, quartz counters, island with bar seating, butler’s pantry with wine chiller and a sunny breakfast area with skylights. The kitchen is open to an adjacent family room with fireplace.

Numerous openings lead to a stunning Spanish terrace, accented with columns a fountain, firepit and wisteria arbor framed by perennial borders and vibrant gardens. The lush grounds include a gorgeous Gunite pool, spa and pool house.

“We often joke that we have so many wonderful places to sit both inside and outside,” the owner said. “On a hot evening, a dip in the pool is heavenly; particularly with the scent of roses hovering in the air.”

On the upper level, the large master bedroom offers a sunsplashed sitting area, walk-in closet with built-in system and master bath with soaking tub. A second en-suite bedroom has a separate dressing room, updated bath plus a private balcony with views of Long Island Sound. Three additional bedrooms and two baths are also on this floor. The finished third floor has a large media room and a full bath as well as an office/bedroom.
