Selecting a house in the Fairview at Oxford Greens community gives people more than just a roof over their head. With that purchase they are getting a quality home, making a sound investment and choosing a particular lifestyle.

That lifestyle, which balances a sense of community and privacy, has been desirable since the Del Webb active adult community opened in the bucolic town of Oxford almost two decades ago. But its location and amenities have taken on greater significance and desirability in recent months. Since the worldwide coronavirus pandemic struck many people have reconsidered life in urban settings within close quarters. They are seeking instead open space and less densely populated neighborhoods without sacrificing proximity to neighbors and everyday conveniences. Fairview at Oxford Greens has always offered its residents such amenities but never have they been more attractive, according to Ronda Margolis, community sales manager for Fairview at Oxford Greens, part of the Del Webb Development Company. “Fairview provides its residents with a sense of community. They are able to socially distance without feeling isolated,” Margolis said.

“How lucky residents feel to be in a place like this at a time like this,” she said, adding that they always had an appreciation for how special this community is but the current conditions have underscored that message even more loudly and clearly.

It’s not only the wide open space that residents can enjoy. Fairview at Oxford Greens is located in quintessential New

England seemingly miles away from anything and yet virtually only minutes from a grocery market, restaurants, bakery, medical offices, and other modern amenities. Major roadways are only a short distance away in two different directions.

Fairview is adjacent to a top-ranked public 18-hole golf course with world-class greens, a championship layout, and on-site restaurant. The Fairview community also features a 14,000-square-foot clubhouse with a fitness center, outdoor and heated indoor swimming pools, spa tub, tennis and pickleball courts, and a bocce court. It generally hosts dozens of activities including social gatherings, organized hikes, clubs, and special events. Del Webb, the longest running adult community, set the standard for such communities and active yet casual lifestyles decades ago, Margolis said. It is one of the few active adult communities to have on its staff a full-time, paid lifestyle director.

While the clubhouse and sports facilities had to be shuttered and social gatherings temporarily suspended during the height of Covid-19, Fairview is responsibly reopening its amenities little by little, closely following the guidelines set forth by health experts at the Centers for Disease Control and the State of Connecticut. The newly refurbished clubhouse is not open yet but the tennis and pickleball courts reopened in early July with socially distancing guidelines in place.

Margolis said an opportunity to purchase “to be built” homes exists, and a special July sales event will provide prospective homebuyers with a $10K incentive on select

“to be built” home sites. There are plans in place to construct 26 units on a quiet cul-de-sac within the Fairview neighborhood. Prospective homebuyers can choose from three different models, which reflect trending colors and décor. Fairview’s team will build to suit, giving homeowners a chance to customize their home, she said. Additionally, an opportunity exists to purchase a few quick delivery homes available as well. Those homes are move-in ready.

It’s not just lifestyle for which Del Webb has set the standard. According to Margolis, with new construction in the State of Connecticut a homeowner gets a one-year Connecticut statutory warrantee, whereas the Del Webb company provides extended warranties up to 10 years. “They are a pioneer in the industry with a reputable track record,” she said.

Margolis said there are many other reasons to consider moving to Fairview, a maintenance-free community. Lawn maintenance, leaf-raking, gutter-cleaning, and snow shoveling are all covered by the homeowners’ association fees.

Virtual open houses are still available for those who feel more comfortable viewing the model homes from a distance, although Fairview is again scheduling in-person open houses and tours.
