CONNECTICUT-THEMED COSTUMES

- By Andrew DaRosa, Illustrations by Ally Rzesa

Sick of seeing the same costumes every year? Have you searched high and low for costumes at Spirit Halloween but never seem to find anything?

Allow us to present you with some Connecticut-inspired Halloween costumes that are sure to impress everyone at your Halloween party this year.

JOHN OLIVER MEMORIAL SEWAGE PLANT

Something smells funny about this costume. After the property was officially christened as the John Oliver Memorial Sewer Plant, you can finally dress up as the long drawn-out joke between the city of Danbury and "Last Week Tonight" host, John Oliver. You don't need to be filled with, um, you know, to wear this charming costume.

What you'll need:

A suit just like John Oliver's

Glasses

Zero knowledge of Danbury but an arsenal of insults to mock it

A sign that resembles the newfound John Oliver Memorial Sewage Plant

CONNECTICUT ROAD CONSTRUCTION

You probably can't count the number of times you've been stuck in traffic after work on the Merritt. It's excruciating and sometimes downright infuriating that the state of Connecticut has picked the exact time you leave work to start its never-ending construction project. To be a nuisance at parties, be sure to move toward your friends and keep directing them to move to the right until they have to stand still.

What you'll need:

An orange vest and reflective tape

Optional: Traffic cones, but please don’t steal them from actual traffic projects.
