Timeless elegance abounds throughout this quintessential colonial built in 1925 and beautifully reimagined to accommodate gracious, modern living and entertaining.

It was the perspective from the street in Westport’s cherished Old Hill neighborhood that first attracted the owners to the home.

“We were drawn to the classic charm of the center-hall colonial style and the spectacular mature shade trees that you cannot replicate with a new house,” said the owners.

The sweeping front lawn is lined with cherry trees and abundant mature plantings on the property’s 1.10 acres. The exquisite grounds encompass a gorgeous gunite pool, cabana, outdoor bath, hot tub, gardens, perennial borders, flowering trees and shrubs along with stone walls and balustrading the owners had designed to create various outdoor rooms.

This beautifully designed interior features cozy and wide-open spaces making the 5,250 square foot floorplan unique. High ceilings, custom moldings, hardwood flooring with inlays, curved archways and windows behold the charm and character of bygone era, elegantly intertwined with 21st century living.

“The feel of the home is very comfortable and warm and the high ceilings give it a spaciousness seldom found in a house that is almost 100 years old,” the owner added.

The owners spent two years on the construction of the new “L” on one side of the house which allowed them to create the large open-plan family space and the walnut-paneled office, along with two more bedrooms including the au-pair/in-law suite, as well as the three-car garage and garden shed.

A wide foyer provides a gracious entry. On one side, the living room features a fireplace and French doors to the office, lined with floor to ceiling built-ins, cabinetry and French doors to the patio. Opposite, the formal dining room is graced with handsome wall panels and a fireplace.

“Among our favorite memories are all the family celebrations and dinners in the dining room,” said the owner. “It has been a wonderful home where we have raised our children from birth to adulthood.”

Another of the family’s favorite space is the classic chef’s kitchen. The heart of the home, it is open to the family room and features glass-fronted cabinetry, stainless steel appliances, butcher block and granite prep spaces, island with seating, breakfast area, wine/beverage chiller, and a roomy walk-in pantry with coffee service bar.

The family room is highlighted with arched openings, built-ins and French doors to the bluestone terrace with pergola and pool area.

On the upper level, the luxurious master suite features floor-toceiling hinged windows overlooking the pool, elegant master bath and a spectacular dressing room closet.

Four additional oversized bedrooms provide ample space for family and guests. The upper level recreational space can be used for a gym or playroom and includes the sixth bedroom and full bath.

The home offers the opportunity to enjoy the best of Westport living in this picture-perfect setting. The home is in the ideal location of Old Hill Road, just a 10-minute walk to the center of town.

“The neighborhood is all ages with many people out walking their dogs, pushing strollers or riding bikes,” the owner added. “One hugely underestimated aspect of this location is the quiet,” It is one of the few places in Westport where one cannot hear either the Merritt or I-95.”
