Gregory Cerminara
Aug 10, 1934 - Sept 16, 2021
Gregory Cerminara, 87, of Danbury, beloved husband of the late Palma (Rizzo) Cerminara, died at his home on Thursday, September 16th. He was born in Platania, Italy, on August 10, 1934, and made his home in the US in the early 1950’s.
Greg retired from Amphenol after many years of faithful service. Throughout his working years, he also worked in many area restaurants during his time off.
Nothing brought Greg greater joy than spending time with his children, grandchildren, family and dearest friends. There was never an occasion when he didn’t tell stories of the “old country” and the lessons he learned in life. There was never a dull moment with “Papa,” always reminding everyone that “he had fillins.” Keeping family traditions was of the utmost importance to him - making wine, supresata, and spending Christmas Eve morning on Arthur Avenue. Most of all he enjoyed watching all his favorite TV shows and sports with his grandchildren, especially watching Italy win the Euro Cup this past summer.
He will be sadly missed by his two children, Fil Cerminara and his wife, Nancy, and Maria Teresa Sharp; his five grandchildren, Kyle Cerminara
and his wife, Brittany, Christopher Cerminara and his wife, Julia, Dennis Jr., Michele and Erica Sharp; and his great granddaughters, Isabella and Maya Cerminara. He is also survived by his sister IN ITALY, Sara DiCello; his brother-in-law, Anthony M. Rizzo, Sr. and his wife, Joan; and sistersin-law, Michelina Butera and her husband, Peppino, and Rose Lostocco; as well as longtime neighbors and dear friends, the Carlucci’s and Chieffalo’s.
He was predeceased by his brother, Dottore Luigi Cerminara; his brothersin-law, Armando DiCello, Michelangelo Rizzo and his wife, Rosalba, and Ralph Lostocco.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 21st at 10:30am at St. Gregory the Great Church. Interment in St. Peter Mausoleum will follow.
The family will receive friends at the Cornell Memorial Home, 247 White Street, Danbury, on Monday between the hours of 4:00 – 7:00pm.
Memorial contributions in his memory may be made to Americo Vespucci Scholarship Fund.
