Ernest Holomany Jr.

95, of Brookfield, CT, only child of Ernest and Gladys Holomany Sr. of Danbury, CT peacefully passed away the evening of August 25th, 2021 at his daughter’s home in South Kent, CT from a prolonged illness.

Ernie’s family was a founding family of Hartford and arrived in MA on the ship the Lyon is 1632, then traveled to CT and there held public positions and helped with the growth of Norwalk, with most then settling in Danbury CT. Following family tradition as family fought in the Revolution­ary War, Civil War, WWI and WWII, he entered WWII at age 17 in the Navy serving on the PC craft 1133 in the Philippine­s returning home at the wars end. Ernie became a tool and die mechanic and then a mechanical engineer for the Barden Corporatio­n where he stayed until retirement. He held the position of Fire Chief in the Germantown Firehouse in 1952.

Ernie met Glorya Harden of So. Kent, built a home in Brookfield CT where they raised two children and enjoyed a loving marriage of 60 years.

Ernest was a member of the Society of Manufactur­ing Engineers, belonged to a model airplane flying club and was a 75 year member of first the Eureka Lodge, Bethel, CT, and then Union Lodge #40 in Danbury. Ernie loved all people, his family and life.

Ernest is survived by a daughter, Sharon Chatfield of South Kent, CT, an estranged son, John Holomany, his grandson, Hunter Chatfield and his wife Christine Chatfield of NY, several cousins from Danbury and Woodbury CT and many friends.

Both Ernest and Glorya’s ashes have been interred in the family plot in Morningsid­e Cemetery, Gaylordsvi­lle, CT.
