Schaghticoke Middle School appoints new principal
NEW MILFORD — The school board has unanimously approved a familiar face to serve as Schaghticoke Middle School’s principal.
Linda Scoralick, who has been serving as the interim principal since November, has been appointed as Schaghticoke Middle School’s principal for the 2022-23 school year, effective July 1.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to continue to serve the Schaghticoke Middle School and greater New Milford communities,” Scoralick said. “Since I came to SMS in November of 2021, I have enjoyed my work with the students, families, and staff. Everyone has been warm, welcoming, and supportive, and it is this sense of community that excites me so much as we continue our work together.”
Scoralick became interim principal after former SMS Principal Chris Longo stepped down to take another position in another district. He had been with the district since 2016.
In her new position, Scoralick will receive a salary of under $150,000 for 2022-23, effective from her start date of July 1, according to meeting minutes.
She has been working for the district since 2007 and was most recently assistant principal at the high school. She started her New Milford career as a math teacher before making her way up to math department chair.
Scoralick received her bachelor’s from Purchase College SUNY, and her master’s in teacher leadership and 6th year in educational leadership from Quinnipiac University. She got her certification from Western Connecticut State University.
“Throughout her career in New Milford, I have come to see Ms. Scoralick as a reflective practitioner, someone who analyzes the current state and works hard to research and plan collaboratively for program and school improvement,” Superintendent Alisha DiCorpo said in a release.
“During her time at New Milford High School and Schaghticoke Middle School as an administrator, Linda has taken the time to form relationships and has listened intently to the feedback of parents, students and staff, and has and will use that feedback to work collaboratively with all stakeholders on school improvement efforts. We are pleased to have Linda transition into the middle school principal position as she is a familiar leader to students and staff who shares a commitment to the students and families of New Milford School District,” DiCorpo said.
Scoralick said as principal of Schaghticoke Middle School, she’s “looking forward to fostering a welcoming and supportive environment for all students and staff, improving climate and culture, and helping provide robust educational and extracurricular opportunities to help students grow and develop academically, socially, and emotionally.”
