Richard (Richie) Bernard Green Sr., born November 18, 1929 in Danbury, passed away on March 5, 2022 at High Pointe Hospice House in Haverhill, MA. He was predecease­d by his parents, Daniel Green Sr. & Aleshia(Monroe) Green French; by his wife Adelaide(Miller), who he was married to for 60 years; & by his 6 siblings: Daniel Jr, Geraldine, Walter, William, Geneva Esposito, & Alice Krupinsky.

He graduated from St Peter's School & attended Danbury High School. He served 2 stints in the army for total 3 years. In 1948 he was stationed in Guam with special troops, then reenlisted in 1950 during Korean War, and stationed in Italy, Germany, & Austria with the infantry division.

He worked at Barden Co. in Danbury for 33 years as a heat treater, then had to take an early retirement in 1984 when diagnosed with bladder cancer. Once retired, he would spend winter months with his wife in Clearwater FL, then after 7 years returned to their home in Danbury, so they could be closer to their grandchild­ren & involved in all their sporting events.

Richie was a superb athlete and played in the industrial leagues in Danbury. He excelled in both fast/slow pitch softball & basketball. He met his wife at the War Memorial where both played basketball. He was a diehard Yankee & Giants fan, & avid fan of UCONN girl's basketball.

He lived at his home on Karen Rd in Danbury for 63 years, then resided with his daughter Cindy & her husband John in Tyngsboro MA for the last 4 years, where he enjoyed eating many delicious home cooked meals & provided with a wonderful, loving home. He stood strong being a solo NY fan among Boston fans. He was especially fond of reminding Patriot fans of the two times the Giants beat them in the super bowl.

He is survived by his 4 loving children: Karen Svenson(Gary) of Oxford CT, Richard Green Jr.(Pamela) of Virginia, Daniel Green of Washington State & Cynthia Sampson( John); 8 adored grandchild­ren: Kyle Svenson(Amanda), Kari Svenson, & Kelsey Svenson, Nathan Green(Dora) & Elizabeth Green, Cody Green, & Danielle Sampson & Chris Sampson; 3 great grandchild­ren: Audrey, Evelyn, & Wesley Green & 1 soon be great grandchild Warner Svenson; brother in law Kenneth Anderson of South Carolina, sister in law Lorraine Miller of Arkansas, loving cousin Joyce Undella Chase, & many nieces & nephews.

He was especially known for his great sense of humor, great laugh & so much fun to be around. He was quite the jokester, great story teller & could easily fool anyone. He was so adored & loved by everyone, and will be dearly missed by all, especially by his children & grandchild­ren.

There will be no calling hours. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held 10am on April 23rd at St Gregory the Great Church in Danbury f/b burial at Wooster Cemetary.
