The white Colonial home on 11 English Drive in Wilton has design elements that are typical to homes of Colonial Williamsburg, such as its clipped roof and attic dormer windows. But the home is not just another generic Connecticut colonial — it was intentionally designed to mim ica particular early American property.
According to information provided by William Pitt Sotheby's International Realty, the Wilton home takes design cues from the Governor's Palace in Williamsburg, Va. The Virginia property was hom eto figures such as Thomas Jefferson and Patrick Henry. Built in 1972, the home was designed and constructed by local homebuilder Sanford Kellogg of the Kellogg Brothers, according to Sotheby's, who designed homes throughout southern Fairfield County. Wilton is one of many towns and cities in Connecticut to have seen its average home values increase in the past two years. Between January 2020 and January 2022, home values in Wilton jumped an average $217,538, marking a 31.14 percent increase. According to national real estate brokerage Redfin, home prices in Wilton were up almost 9 percent in February 2022 versus the sam eti me last year with a current median sale price of $860,000. Both the number of homes sold and average days a home spent on the market in Wilton decreased year over year. Fifty-five homes sold in February 2022 versus the 77 sold in February 2021, and home spend an average of 71 days on the market compared to spending 73 days on the market last year.
