Adele Walter

-

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we announce and mourn the passing of Adele C. Walter, age 92, who passed away in her sleep on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Bethel Health Care after a long illness.

Adele was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Adele (Mangels) Rissmeyer, as well as her two younger brothers Karl and John Rissmeyer.

Married to Robert H. Walter in 1950, and divorced in 1960, Adele as a single mother raised, and was immensely proud of her four children Rick, Laura, Larry (deceased 1958), and Karl. In addition to her children, she deeply loved her six grandchildren Melissa, Jamie (deceased 2018), Adele, Kurt, Karl, and Emily, as well as seven great-grandchildren Ruth, Ester, Abigail, Bella, Brielle, Riley and Carter.

The eldest child of German immigrants, Adele was born and raised in The

Bronx. While raising her family, Adele worked over 20 years for First National City Bank of New York. Although raised in the city, she was an enthusiastic admirer of nature, the outdoors, and especially animals. A woman of simple tastes, but strong opinions, she had a sharp wit and formidable sense of humor. She loved listening to music, crafts such as stained glass, and despite a lack of formal training, playing the piano.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to send a special note of thanks to Adele’s treasured friend and caretaker, Mayra Cruz. Mayra cared for Adele in her last year, provided her with much love, care, attention, and made her last months immensely more meaningful.
