Danbury man charged with home invasion, kidnapping
DANBURY — A city man is facing a slew of charges after allegedly assaulting a man and woman in their home and kidnapping one of them at gunpoint during the overnight hours of Tuesday into Wednesday.
Officers were called to a disturbance at a Danbury residence around 11:30 p.m., where a man said 32-year-old Francisco J. Fontanez-Trinidad had forced his way into the residence, assaulted the man, brandished a pistol and threatened him, police said.
When the man resisted, Fontanez-Trinidad discharged the pistol and “assaulted the victim with the gun,” said Detective Lt. Mark Williams.
Fontanez-Trinidad also assaulted a woman at the scene before forcibly removing her from the residence and making her drive to his residence on Bennett Place, according to police.
“During the drive, Francisco Fontanez-Trinidad repeatedly assaulted the female victim, leaving visible signs of injury,” Williams said.
Around 12:15 a.m., police received a call from Fontanez-Trinidad, who “admitted to the described incident and asked the police to come to his residence,” Williams said.
Officers found FontanezTrinidad and the woman at the residence, arrested Fontanez-Trinidad and recovered the pistol, according to police.
Fontanez-Trinidad has been charged with home invasion, first-degree kidnapping, unlawful discharge of a firearm, disorderly conduct and two counts of third-degree assault, first-degree threatening and reckless endangerment.
He was arraigned at state Superior Court in Danbury, and is currently being held on a $250,000 bond with a plea hearing scheduled for Sept. 24.
