CDC head contradicts advice on mask wearing

-

On Sept. 16, our esteemed CDC Director, Dr. Robert Redfield, told tried to sell our Senate — and the rest us — a fresh bottle of snake oil on the subject of universal masking.

“Masks are the most important, powerful public health tool we have,” Redfield said, holding a surgical mask — not an N95 mask — in his hand. “And I will continue to appeal for all Americans, all individuals in our country, to embrace these face coverings.”

“These actually, we have clear scientific evidence they work, and they are our best defense. I might even go so far as to say this face mask is more guaranteed to protect me against COVID than when I take a COVID vaccine.” Curiously enough, a meta-study published by the CDC in May of this year included the following conclusion about measures for containing influenza — a coronavirus — including wearing face masks:

“Evidence from 14 randomized controlled trials of these measures did not support a substantial effect on transmission of lab-confirmed influenza.”

I can’t believe that Dr. Redfield is totally unaware of his agency’s own study published at the height of this epidemic.

To put it bluntly, Dr. Redfield is lying out of his ample backside about this. We’ve been scolded all of this year to “follow the science.” However, too much of what we’ve heard from the “scientists” has been contradictory and less than credible with masking at the top of the excrement list.

I also think that Dr. Redfield and his peers feel emboldened by the fact that so much of our corporate legacy media have acted as partisan stenographers with no interest in actually digging down on any of their proclamations.

It’s hard to follow the science when the scientists are simply another bunch of partisan talking heads.
